Volunteers donate time to help Lee’s Summit R-7 schools during Day of Service

Volunteers from the First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit spent a recent Sunday donating their time to a variety of community projects, including a number at Lee’s Summit R-7 schools. Instead of attending their normal Sunday services, several hundred members of the church participated in a Day of Service on June 10.

In addition to service activities at other community sites, teams of members volunteered at the following Lee’s Summit R-7 schools: Meadow Lane Elementary, Lee’s Summit North High School, Lee’s Summit West High School, Pleasant Lea Elementary, Summit Pointe Elementary, Westview Elementary, Cedar Creek Elementary and Hazel Grove Elementary. Including the eight schools, the First Baptist volunteer teams worked at 28 local sites.

Pictured are volunteers working at Underwood Elementary where they focused on the school’s landscaping and garden. They re-painted pots, picked up trash and sticks, pulled weeds, re-planted, cleaned the bird bath and renovated and painted the bench/arbor in the memorial garden.
